CARBON NEUTRALITY EMPOWERED BY HANDPRINT – FINAL SEMINAR

We were delighted to host the “Carbon Neutrality Empowered by Handprint – Final Seminar” on February 14, 2024 at VTT premises. The seminar was a hybrid event and we had great participation both from the live audience and the on-line attendees in the chat. The final seminar was a closure to VTT and LUT’s eight year journey on handprint development work funded by Business Finland and participating companies. The results of the most recent research project, “Carbon Neutrality Empowered by Handprint,” were presented in the seminar, with some commentaries from the participating companies and a member from the project’s advisory board. The project defined the role of handprints in climate neutrality context and updated the handprint framework for circular economy solutions, advancing business opportunities and competitiveness. Corporate experiences of using handprints were also presented.

Background:

In the pursuit of sustainable practices, the development of the “handprint” concept and framework has been a collaborative effort over eight years, led by VTT and LUT University. The concept of “handprint” assesses and communicates the positive impacts of a product or organization, contrasting with the term “footprint” which refers to negative impacts. The ongoing research project, “Carbon Neutrality Empowered by Handprint,” aims to define the role of handprints in climate neutrality context and to apply handprints for circular economy solutions, advancing business opportunities and competitiveness. This final seminar marks a crucial milestone, showcasing insights gained from three impactful Business Finland projects and highlighting the importance of handprints in shaping a sustainable future.
